Improving the efficiency of a local police department’s misdemeanor ticketing system
A metro police department was looking for more efficient ways to improve the efficiency of their misdemeanor ticketing process. For faster, more systematic processing, officers would ideally be able to handle all aspects of the misdemeanor process in the field instead of having to do so back at the police station.

Lengthy process and wasted time going to-and-from the police station
In the case of a misdemeanor traffic violation such as driving under the influence or driving without a license, police officers would typically need to take the suspect into custody and bring them to the police station to process the charge and take fingerprints, which can end up being a laborious undertaking.
THE TAILORED SOLUTION
Customising the F110 with a built-in crossmatch fingerprint reader
To streamline the process for officers, Getac’s F110 rugged laptop unit was customized with a I/O hard handle designed with a built-in barcode reader, crossmatch fingerprint reader and LAN port. This allowed them to scan drivers licenses, capture prints and transfer data using only one device. All of this could be completed while on the field and saved time in the ticketing process, especially in conjunction with the Computer-Aided Dispatch application that Getac devices also seamlessly integrate with. By doing this, the police department was able to upgrade to a next generation solution while keeping the same existing docking stations within their vehicles—an overall cost-effective solution.

A more efficient and streamlined process for misdemeanor offenses
This customisation significantly improved the speed of the police department’s misdemeanor ticketing process and greatly reduced the wasted time spent going back and forth from the station. Getac was not only able to modify the F110 device to fit the officers’ specific needs, but was also able to do so without the local department needing to order thousands of units to meet a manufacturer’s Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)—an true sign of Getac’s flexibility and excellent customer service.
