Getac strengthens leading rugged convertible notebook to enhance productivity for utility companies

●        Getac V110 supports industry digital transformation and productivity demands; delivers rapid and secure data transfer and greater workflow efficiency for utility professionals working on the front line

Getac, manufacturer of mobility solutions for a range of industries, today announces updates to its leading Getac V110 rugged convertible notebook, designed to drive greater productivity and flexibility for utility field professionals as their industries become increasingly digitized.

Rowina Lee, Vice president of Global sales & Business Development Centre, Getac Technology Corporation comments; “Utility companies are under pressure to reduce costs, respond faster to issues, improve operational efficiency, keep customers informed in real time, and comply with stricter safety, security and environmental regulations. Digital transformation strategies that have mobility solutions at their core can deliver the agility, efficiency and responsiveness needed to significantly improve field worker productivity and customer engagement. Getac has designed the V110 to do just that - by arming workers with reliable, robust and always-on devices that can support a range of tasks all day long.”

The V110 provides the reliability and power needed to perform a range of tasks efficiently for an entire shift. It includes the latest Intel processors (Intel®Kaby Lake Core™ i5 or i7) for increased computing performance and better power usage, and has long lasting hot swappable batteries for use around the clock. This helps utility companies take on a higher workload capacity, complete work faster and deliver better service to customers.

Today, data collection and exchange are growing exponentially with the rise of meter readings, fault fixing reports, GIS mapping, image processing and time and task tracking requirements. This is simplified by the V110’s eight megapixel rear camera allows workers to rapidly capture digital evidence for asset and parts management or infrastructure maintenance. As workers need to be connected constantly, the V110’s proprietary antennae has been designed to provide exceptional 4G LTE WWAN wireless network connectivity from out in the field, and combined with PowerShare USB 3.0 and multiple input ports, they get faster download speeds and reduced reliance on paper forms. The V110 notebooks can also be docked inside vehicles and the device includes vehicle docking with Tri Pass Through for simultaneous connection to high-gain GPS, WWAN and WLAN roof-mounted antennas on a field vehicle.

The protection of customer, operational and infrastructure data is paramount for any utility company, so the V110 packs in a range of inbuilt security features including both Intel and Microsoft authentication and smart card readers. Machine start-up monitoring and protection (with TPM 2.0) ensures the device is tamper-free before releasing control to the operating system, while BitLocker protects data at rest, in use and in transit.

Utility field professionals often work in challenging environments – such as underground, in difficult weather conditions, in the dark, at night, and technology needs to operate seamlessly in all conditions. The V110 provides the flexibility to operate as a tablet or a notebook, depending on the job requirement. Its full size keyboard is ideal for report writing, email and ordering parts, while the 11.6 inch LumiBond sunlight readable touch display can be operated with finger, stylus or gloves and in the rain, and ensures screen visibility even in the most extreme conditions. Field worker equipment faces drops, vibrations, spillages and extreme temperatures, so the V110 has been certified to protect against water and dust ingress, drops (up to four feet), and to an operating temperature between -21°C to 60°C (certified IP65 rating as well as military standards MIL-STD 810G and MIL-STD 461G).

The new Getac V110 provides comprehensive mobility applications that support utility workers in their everyday work, taking them a step closer to realizing the digitization trend. Getac also offers continued support for its devices with industry leading three year Bumper-to-Bumper warranty that also covers accidental damage.
